Lodge a Complaint

The Commission is mandated by the Telecommunications Act (2009) to regulate the telecommunications sector and as such, maintains its policy of assisting complainants to address complaints directly to their service provider, as the first step towards resolving individual problems. However, the Commission can be requested or may, of its own volition, carry out investigations into matters related to market, service providers, services, anti-competition or other such issues.

Type of Complaint

Honiara (TCSI): The Australian Government will be spending nearly AU $30 million in the 2019 to 2020 period to support a proposed submarine cable link from Sydney to Honiara.

Yesterday, the Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison met his Solomon Islands counterpart Manasseh Sogavare in the capital, Honiara, to pledge that Australia would provide AU $250 million in aid over the next decade for infrastructure spending.

According to the most recent “DFAT Orange Book” AU $69.2 million will be spent on “Infrastructure and Trade” in the Solomon Islands for the 2019 to 2020 period with nearly AU $30 million of that going towards the funding of the Coral Sea Cable.

Undersea cable systems for the submarine cable project are expected to arrive in the Solomon Islands later this month.
